Cybill Shepherd as Martha Stewart as...a sexy gnome?
From the 2003 NBC TV movie Martha, Inc. This is how Martha comes on to her husband after his publishing success of releasing the English-language edition of The Secret Life of Gnomes in 1977. If this scene isn't supposed to be scary, then why is she sort of dressed like Glenn Close at the end of Fatal Attraction?!

    I wonder a few things about steff... When he said he was after her for 4 yearz, what was his plan? To date her openly and dump his long term girlfriend? He gives blaine tons of sh!t for being into her and calls her trash and low grade a$$..was he serious about feeling that way? The script must be interesting to see how spader made steff the ultimate 80s yuppie bully. No one did it better then spader. He is such a good actor, just amazing. Was his plan to get with andy and sleep with her and dump her? Did he even care what comes next just as long as he gets what he wants. Its interesting that blaine was so right about steff when he says that steff could buy anything but he couldnt buy her..snd that he is shit. I think steff does know he is a slimeball. In my opinion james spader makes this movie good. The casting is so good. Blaine, ducky, steff, and annie potts. Molly ringwald and spader had a chemistry in my opinion. Sure blaine was cute as heck but i think in the scene with james leaning on her car there is an attraction there that grosses her out to be attracted to him and he probably doesnt even know why he is so drawn to her

    How was James spader 26 in this movie??? I knew he was older than his co stars but I didn't think it was by much. Its so weird though, he was in a movie called the new kids (which I only saw recently) a year before this & looked 30 in that movie 😂😂

    Steff McKee is what made me realize they miscast James Spader as Graham Dalton instead of John Mullany in "Sex, Lies, and Videotape;" Andie MacDowell and Laura San Giacomo should have switched roles in that, too.

    Steff never told Blaine that he himself was trying to get with Andie for four years, but Andie always rejected him because he was a scummy, rich, conceited, douchebag, and like she said, "I have some taste." Then, when Blaine asks Andie out, she says yes, and that made Steff so freaking jealous, because Andie always turned him down. Steff then called her trash to Blaine, and a nobody, but the truth is he was insanely jealous because she gave Blaine a chance, and fell in love with him, because she could tell he was different from his friends. And like Blaine said, "You buy everything Steff, but you couldn't buy her, that's what's killing you. That's it Steff. She thinks you're shit. And deep down you know she's right."

    When Steff hits on Andie by her car, I just don’t buy it. One it was in public in front of his servants/classmates… and two she looked horrible there. Yeah she’s 80s out, but in a grandma way. She looks horribly unattractive. I’m not buying he’s into her. That’s my only fault with this film. I could see him wanting her because he can’t get her, but in this scene she looks so bad, they should’ve made her sexier -just a touch of her hair down or something. No glasses, please all that clutter on her!!

      He was already getting the girls who were from wealthy families and had the classic look, but Andie was very different. She was bohemian and from a working class family. The fact that she had no interest in him whatsoever and he couldn't just use and discard her, made him angry. He had money, but couldn't buy her and that killed him.

    There's a tragic irony in Steff's overtures to Andie. Steff, someone high-born and of class, understands and recognises true worth & substance in people and things, but is unable to hold onto such or appreciate it properly, because he thinks by way of his status he's automatically entitled to it, missing the point that a certain degree of investment and sacrifice and care has to go into a person/object to make it valuable in the first place.

  • @pendafen7405
    @pendafen7405 Год назад

    One wonders what it cost emotionally for Steff to confess at 0:39. Whether he's said it to Andie before, either sincerely, or glibly as he does here like it's a joke or lie to rile her. Or, perhaps, if we're seeing the first time he's ever voiced it aloud, scared and pushed by the Blane situation into saying it to Andie's face at last. There's even a choking waver of desperation and disbelief in Steff's voice at 0:50--both the deflating of his Ego, and also one of the last gasps of hope that Andie might take him seriously for once and just show him genuine affection (we see that hope breathe its last and pass away at the Prom, or perhaps before at the house party). Spader plays it so well, more subtly than the movie puts anything else.

    Steff is the typical asshole kid of affluent parents. He treats his fathers success and money as his own. Unable to be self aware to realize his "affluence" is just a result of an accident of birth. He has earned nothing and has achieved nothing on his own.

    Spader ALWAYS played the jerk in the 80s. Less than zero comes to mind. But seriously…. DF is Molly Ringwald wearing? They were bout a decade older than me… still I was growing up back then. We dressed ridiculously….but Ain’t NO WAY IN HELL wud we be caught dead in that geriatric goofy ass outfit. And I gotta side w Steff… that goofy shit don’t fly at rich kid prep parties. Pretty in Pink WAS SOOOO FARFETCHED! Boring ass Blaine woulda NEVER have given Andi the time of day other than to get laid. Steff, jerk or not, wouldn’t have given 2 sh1ts if he used her or not. He wuda been next…. Then denied it. Tbh Andi was walking a dangerous line trusting Blaine & going to a rich kid party in the 80s…. Coulda ended up rohypnoled & passed around real fast. Finally if she’s above doing Steff & “has better taste than that” She never would’ve fallen for Blaine either. She would’ve hooked up w Duckie. The entire shows a joke. Steff was the ONLY one who made sense.

    You left out his best and he didn't even say anything.. at the Prom when he looks up, sees And I, looks at her then looks to see if Blaine sees her.... A multitude of emotions go across his face, anger, shock,lust, wanting and regret to name a few.
